Bioshock Developers Working On New Horror Game

Former Irrational Games Developers Reveal New Horror Game Perception

By Hunter Braine

A team of developers formerly at Irrational Games has revealed their new project Perception, a adventure horror game similar to Outlast and Alien: Isolation.

The trailer shows a female lead named Cassie Thornton who is apparently blind, and relies on echo-location to see where she is going.  All of the sounds of the house, from the old pipes to the grandfather clock make vibrations which not only helps the player see, but adds for a truly horrifying experience.

The developer of the game, Deep End Games is comprised of many of the developers of Bioshock and Bioshock Infiniteincluding Bill Gardner who was the design director on Bioshock.  Gardner says with Perception, he's looking to change how horror games are played.

Perception seems like a great take on the horror game genre, bringing a new aspect with the echo-location.  As more and more games come out in this survival horror genre where weapons are unavailable and running and hiding seem to be the only option, it's nice to see a developer branching out and trying something new, I'm really looking forward to trying this game out.
