PlayStation Home Developer becomes Independent Game Publisher

By Hunter Braine

PlayStation Home developer Loot Entertainment branches away from Sony to become Loot Interactive, an independent game publisher.  This is similar to when Sony Online Entertainment went independent to become Daybreak Game Company earlier this year.

Loot Interactive says they are to bring 3 titles to E3 this summer including Back to Bed, Whispering Wallows, and Velocibox.  All of these games have been announced as PlayStation exclusives being launched for the PlayStation Vita, PlayStation 4, and PlayStation 3.

"We're ready to kick off E3 with a strong showing of launch games to set the stage for a very aggressive release schedule of fantastic new indie titles through 2015." co-founder David Sterling says.

Bioshock Developers Working On New Horror Game

Former Irrational Games Developers Reveal New Horror Game Perception

By Hunter Braine

A team of developers formerly at Irrational Games has revealed their new project Perception, a adventure horror game similar to Outlast and Alien: Isolation.

The trailer shows a female lead named Cassie Thornton who is apparently blind, and relies on echo-location to see where she is going.  All of the sounds of the house, from the old pipes to the grandfather clock make vibrations which not only helps the player see, but adds for a truly horrifying experience.

The developer of the game, Deep End Games is comprised of many of the developers of Bioshock and Bioshock Infiniteincluding Bill Gardner who was the design director on Bioshock.  Gardner says with Perception, he's looking to change how horror games are played.

Perception seems like a great take on the horror game genre, bringing a new aspect with the echo-location.  As more and more games come out in this survival horror genre where weapons are unavailable and running and hiding seem to be the only option, it's nice to see a developer branching out and trying something new, I'm really looking forward to trying this game out.

Withcer 3 Devs Respond to Graphics "Downgrade" On Release

CD Projekt RED Responds to concerns of graphical downgrades during development

By Hunter Braine

CD Projekt RED said the graphics are not as good as shown in the VGX PC trailer they showed two years ago.  Company co-founder Marcin Iwinski and studio head Adam Badowski spoke to Eurogamer with an explanation.

Iwinski started by saying the console version of the game did not hold back the PC edition.
Iwinski states "If consoles are not involved there is no Witcher 3 as it is, we can lay it out that simply.  We just cannot afford it, because consoles allow us to go higher in terms of the possible or achievable sales; have a higher budget for the game, and invest it all into developing this huge gigantic world."

Iwinski continued by saying if the game was on a single platform, it's true they could have gotten more out of it but financially that was just not possible.  He went to to explain the versions at the tradeshows and gameplay demos are just pieces of the game, programmed to run at a very high fidelity.

A patch for the game that hopes to bump up the graphics for the PC, while Projekt RED contiunues to look for solutions for other platforms.

By Hunter Braine

If you don't own an Xbox One or just really like the color white, Microsoft has you covered.  According to Major Nelson himself, they will soon be released an all white Xbox One with a digital copy of Halo: The Master Chief Collection.

The console would include a wireless controller, also white and a copy of the game.  Their will be limited quantities of this console as well so be sure to be on the look out later this month.

For those who don't know Halo: The Master Chief Collection includes 4 Halo titles including Halo: Combat Evolved, Halo 2, Halo 3, and Halo 4, so with this bundle you essentially get 4 games included.

It is also worth mentioning a Halo 5: Guardians console is coming out later this year along with the game, we don't know yet what that will look like but if that interests you, you may want to hold off.

The Witcher 3 - First Impressions

Hunter Gives His First Impressions of The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt

By Hunter Braine

The Witcher 3: Wild Hunt was released today and I love it, for those who don't know The Witcher series follows one Geralt of Rivia, a witcher which is basically a awesome badass monster hunter who doesn't take shit from anyone.

The Wticher 3 has a massive open world, countless number of side quests along with a great story so far.  The cinematics are beautiful and the gameplay is clean and effective.

CD Projekt RED completely overhauled everything in this game, and really made everything easier and faster, I actually felt like an awesome master swordsman while playing.  Boss battles and witcher contracts are the best I've seen in these types of games, each one feel different and reading on how best to deal with each foe adds a new aspect to the game I loved immediately.

Overall The Witcher 3 is a huge step up from the greatness of The Witcher 2 and made this series an instant classic for me, and if you'll excuse me I'm going to go kill some monsters.
