YouTube Breaking Away From Google+

YouTube Breaking Ties with Google+

By Hunter Braine

Today in YouTube's Official Blog it was announced that YouTube and Google+ would be going their separate ways.

In the blog post they say YouTube is breaking away from Google+ based on user feedback, and they give a breakdown of how some aspects will change.

They first discussed comments, changing the ranking system to reduce the visibility of junk comments while rewarding quality ones.  Comments made on YouTube will also only appear on YouTube and comments made on Google+ will only appear there, not on YouTube, this feature rolls out today.  One feature that will stay is the moderation options.  This means blocking certain words or reviewing comments before posted will all stay on YouTube.

Another aspect they discussed was what will happen with your YouTube channel.  One of the biggest changes is YouTube will no longer require a Google+ profile if you want to produce content, this has been one of the top requested changes since the integration of Google+.  In the coming months users will be able to remove their Google+ pages from their YouTube pages.  However we advise you do not do this now as doing so will delete your YouTube channel.
